In 1941 Congress created a military reserve and renamed the original volunteer reserve established in 1939 as the "Coast Guard Auxiliary". The Purpose of the Auxiliary is outlined in Title 14 of the United States Code 822. The mission of the Auxiliary is to effect rescues on and over the high seas and on navigable waters; To promote efficiency in the operation of motorboats and yachts; To foster a wider knowledge of, and better compliance with, the laws, rules, and regulations governing the operation of motorboats and yachts. To facilitate other operations of the Coast Guard.

We are always looking for new members. Our membership is made up of people whom are interested in boating and any water-based activities. We also have pilots in our membership. Help do your part to make boating safe. Train to teach boating safety classes, travel the waters of Central Texas Lakes and Gulf of Mexico for safety patrols, or give vessel safety checks at marinas. If you and or a friend maybe interested please contact our Flotilla  Member  Services Officer Elaine Smith 512-524-0281.

Our local Flotilla offers Boating Skills and Seamanship Classes, Texas Parks and Wildlife Boater Education, as well as vessel safety checks. If you have never taken the course you should try it out, bring a friend. If you have taken the Course you should take it again and bring your crew. The course assists in preparing you to be a safe boater. Classes are always being scheduled so contact Al Bohne 512-947-USCG. Do you ever think about what it takes to be a Safe Boater? We have the Information. We have helpful and up-to-date information for all boaters from canoeists to personal watercraft operators, ski boats and even yachtsmen.
